District & State Assessment Plan

Purpose:

The District Assessment Program provides teachers and administrators with valuable insights into individual and collective academic achievement. By regularly assessing student performance, teachers can adjust their teaching methods, ensuring a targeted and responsive approach to instruction. Assessment information is used at the local and state levels to identify performance trends in student achievement and growth.

Idaho Reading Indicator (IRI)

Idaho Standards Achievement Test (ISAT)

State assessment of math, language arts, and science
3-8th grade and 11th grade take the math and language arts assessment
5, 8, and 11th grades take the Science assessment
Assessment times vary: estimated 4.5 to 4.75 hours for math and ELA combined and 1.5 hours for science
Administered in April-May
Results available 3 weeks post-assessment

Idaho Alternate Assessment (IDAA)

State assessment of math and language arts
Administered to some students based on their learning needs
Grades 3-8 and 11 for ELA and Math. Grades 5, 8, and 11 for Science

Assessment times may vary based on individual needs: estimated 1.5 hours combined for ELA and Math and 1.5 hours for science
Scores available 3 weeks post-assessment

National and International Assessments

National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP)
- State assessment in reading, mathematics, science, and writing
- Administered to grades 4, 8, and 12 at selected schools
- Assessment time: 2 hours
- Known as the "Nations Report Card", results are available for the nation and for states, but not for individual schools/districts
Other assessments that allow comparisons internationally may be administered to selected schools/grades

Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT)
- Reading, Writing, Math
- Administered in October
- Administered to 10th grade students
- Assessment time: Approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes
- Can be used for various scholarships including National Merit Scholar Program

Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
- Reading, Math, and Written Language
- Administered in April
- Administered to 11th grade students (12th if missed in 11th grade)
- Assessment Time: Approximately 3 hours
- Used as a college entrance examination

STAR 360

Assessments of reading and math
Used as a Universal Screener and to monitor progress
Grades 2-12 take the math assessment
Grades 3-12 take the reading assessment
Administered monthly in grades 2-6 and quarterly in grades 9-12
Assessment time varies, but is approximately 30 minutes
